The First-Year Islander (FYI) Conference takes place at the end of each spring semester and is an opportunity for first-year students to participate in a formal academic conference. Students interested in presenting at the FYI Conference are required to submit proposals in late March to be evaluated by a panel of faculty judges. The students selected to present are informed in early April of their acceptance. The TAMU-CC campus community is invited to attend the FYI Conference to celebrate the work of first-year students.
Unfortunately, due to the closing of the campus during the COVID-19 pandemic, the First-Year Islander: College to Career Conference was canceled. Instead, the First-Year Islander Virtual Conference Showcase was created to collect important work developed during this unprecedented time. Despite the transition to an online delivery process, the learning communities remained a consistent and integral space for first-year student growth.
This space is open to students, staff, and faculty of Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi. The login credentials may be found in an email sent out by the provost on May 18, 2020.
