Jimena Burnett

Professional Assistant Professor

Jimena (Chimene) Burnett received her bachelor's degree in English from Texas A&M University-College Station and went on to get her M.A. from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. Professor Burnett has taught Writing and Rhetoric and Seminar in History, Political Science, Sociology, Psychology, Biology, Understanding and Appreciating Music, and Film & Culture. Over the years, Professor Burnett has gained experience working with all types of students—developmental, athletes, PSA, first generation, non-traditional, international, and honors. In the past, Professor Burnett has worked as a National Writing Project Teacher Consultant, providing professional development workshops and consulting services devoted to writing instruction for teachers in the Coastal Bend area. Professor Burnett has also worked at the CASA Writing Center and has been a writing instructor for Project GRAD Summer Program for the past three years. Currently, she works as a full-time professor of Seminar as well as Writing & Rhetoric with the Department of Undergraduate Studies. She enjoys riding her horse, traveling, playing tennis, reading, and tending to her family. From time to time she writes poetry and has a few published pieces!
