Melanie appreciates the multi-disciplinary nature of seminar because she could never decide what she wanted to study. She has a Ph.D. from King’s College London in English Language and Literature. She graduated with an M.A. in modern British history with an emphasis on imperialism from Washington University in St. Louis. She recently completed a book manuscript entitled The Violence of the Letter: Toward a Theory of Writing. Her new book concerns whiteness, gender, and autobiographical writing in the settler colonies. Her articles have appeared in Irish Studies Review, Textual Practice, and Angelaki (2020). She has taught Cultural Studies, Visual Cultures, and American Drama as Independent Seminars, and she currently teaches in philosophy, art, and political science learning communities.
