Amanda Bocanegra was born and raised in South Texas. She has been employed at TAMUCC since 2012, and just received her five-year pin! She earned a Bachelor of Science in psychology from Texas A&M University. Amanda is also a proud TAMUCC alumnus! In 2016, she earned a Master of Science in counseling at the Island University. Her background in psychology and counseling has influenced the way she approaches academic advising. Amanda uses the Top Ten Basic Counseling Skills (Drab) and adapts them to fit the academic advising role. She believes working as an advisor to support students in the College of Nursing and Health Sciences can be very challenging, but the reward is being a part of students’ journeys to earning their degrees.
