Andrea Amaya was attending law school in her native Colombia before moving to the United States. She was accepted into Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi (TAMUCC) as an International Student in 2009. Andrea earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communications/Media Studies in 2011, and a master’s degree in Communication Studies in 2013 from TAMUCC. She has been in higher education for over 9 years working as an Academic Insight Mentor, Retention Specialist and Academic Success Coach at the TAMUCC - Center for Academic Student Achievement (CASA). Andrea is very active within the community, volunteering at different organizations and serving as the board of directors and Vice President of programs of the Institute of Hispanic Culture of Corpus Christi. Currently, Andrea is working for University College as a Nursing and Health Sciences Academic Advisor. She is also pursuing a doctoral degree in the Educational Leadership doctoral program.
